Napier is worth a visit if only to see the Art Deco architecture - a design trend prolific at the time that Napier was rebuilt after an earthquake flattened it in the 1930's.

We then drove long and hard to Palmerston North to see the NZ rugby museum. The museum was great, actually fantastic. Palmerston North however was aptly named by John Cleese as the suicide capital of NZ. You should see the Rugby museum, so make it a day trip!!
