The Scenic Views

Caribou on the road

Caribou running away

Starting of the Solar System layout

There is one of the planets

School is fun at the Summit Lake rest area

Departed Laird Hot Springs at 9:30am heading south into the fog of the morning...now the road is marked as scenic...it wasn't long until the fog wore off and it was scenic however the world renowned unusual colors of Muncho Lake were not visible as the lake it still white with snow...however the roads are clear and along the way we saw caribou, deer and moose.

Our picnic lunch stop was at Summit Lake where we took our cooler of food into the closed picnic area. After lunch we helped Solomon with his science project. He needed to do the Solar System in a scale of 1 to 10 million which ended up to be approx, a third of a mile along the road. We were able to see the proximity of the sun to earth and all of the way Pluto...I am sure any time in the future that any of us think of the solar system we will think of Summit Lake.

Unlike the last 2 days where we would see a car or truck occasionally, traffic became much heavier today,...we probably passed at least 50 RV or RV/truck combinations heading north. We feel like we are leaving the far north behind as we get closer to the US and the bigger Canadian cities. However it is awesome driving the ALCAN and feeling the road connection to Alaska...both real and emotional.

Found a hotel in FT. ST. John...a town we never had heard of before but seemed like a good place to spend the night before heading south. Once again got a family suite and were able to cook dinner in our room...
