After about an hours drive on from the homestay we crossed the boarder into Vietnam. it was quite a long process, but Sakai did most of it and we just sat around!
There was a different minibus waiting on the other side of the boarder and we then had a really long drive to Ninh Binh - about 9 hours! The first part of our drive took us near the Ho Chi Min trail, driving around the moutains for ages which made some of us not feel too great! Out of the countryside, you could tell we were in Vietnam and a country alot less calm than Laos! There were hundreds of motor and pedal bikes on the roads and the overtaking antics that car and lorry drivers do is quite scary!
We saw some weird sites on the roads, like a cow strapped on the back of a motorbike (alive!), 4 people on one motorbike and transporting other weird things on the back!
We arrived ahead of schedule in Nnh Binh and had a nice hotel for the night. It was 5pm so not really any time for exploring the town. I managed to break the shower and then nearly fell over in the bar (before drinking anything!)so I could tell it had been a long day! We had drinks on the roof top bar and dinner in the restaurant of the hotel.
