Mary & Jeff - To Oz and Beyond! travel blog

We put our pin on the Map in the Access Centre

A pretty flower

Interesting striations in the rocks

The part of supper Mary didn't want to see

After the Endeavour viewing, we quickly return to our accommodation to download pictures. The sun is shining so the plan is to go to Cocora Beach, catch a few rays and then stop off at the Eden Access Centre and bring you all up to date. A great plan it is. The sun is masked by clouds so we are not toasted and there is no off-shore breeze so we don't chill. We limit our sunning to just over an hour. Part of the time is spent exploring the beach, looking at shells and stones. Jeff ventures into the water. It is cool and he is not going to totally immerse himself. He does find a clam - he thinks. That Marine Biology 100 course was a long time ago, so it could be something else. The truth is that a big cloud came in, the breeze picked up and it was darn chilly! The Eden Access Centre draws us! We encounter our previous day's buddies and do all our updates. Since the staff at the Centre were not able to see the Endeavour come in, we show Barry our pictures and give him a tour of our website. Within seconds we have a new member of our club! Thanks Barry, to you and all the rest of the staff for all your help and warm welcome to Eden! If you are ever in Canada.........

On the way back to our accommodation for a bit of lunch and general goof-off, we pick up some supplies from the food mart, some King Prawns from the fish store. The idea is to have a nice seafood supper, including Eden muscles - that plan quickly changes when the local fish store has about 6 available, and the Rikara down at the wharf is still without a human to sell us anything!

We decide we should do something, so venture down to Aslings Beach - on foot. It's down hill all the way. Of course you know what that means - a wee switch back is in order for the return trip. We must be getting healthier. We hardly puff at all on the 5-6 degree incline (our estimation according to our treadmill at home!).

After a wee dram of the McCallum scotch, it's time to prepare supper, and start our last load of laundry before we depart tomorrow. Supper turns out very well. Jeff sautés a bit of onion and ginger, adds our King Prawns and we serve that over a cheese and pepper pasta! This seems like the occasion to quaff our McGuigan Hand Picked Semillon from the Hunter Valley, Bin 9000, Vintage 1997. It goes down very well, certainly a pleasant way to end our last day in Eden. We'll miss you guys!

Tomorrow, we'll be on the road again, this time to Bairnsdale, our last stop before Melbourne. According to the helpful ladies at the Info Centre, it will take about 3 hours. Given our experience to date, it will take us a little longer since we'll have to take a few side trips and take some pictures. It has been good to take a break from driving and put down some roots for a day. But the lure of New Zealand calls! Brigitte, please let Duncan know that our caravan/campervan will soon start. He laughed when I told him about it. Yes Duncan, I can do 2 weeks in a caravan!!!!!!!!!!

Until the next update, " how ya goin'! " from down under!!!!!!!!!
