I've arrived in Amritsar after a five hour bus ride from Dharamsala. I had to get up at 3:30 am to catch a 4:00 am shuttle (from McLeod Ganj to Dharamsala) and then the 5:00 am bus (Rs 120). The one good thing about arriving early is that there is less worry in finding accommodations. I've parked myself at the MK Sood guesthouse (Rs 500/night) near the Golden Temple, the main tourist attraction in Amritsar.
