Bungalow at Ko Chang (Wrong Island)
| 26th and 27th. Caught the bus to Ranong a 3hr trip north. The bus was packed, Fee was sitting half way down the bus and Fish was squashed in the back row - he felt like a piece of cheese in a club sandwich....but only for 2hrs of the 3hr trip. It was not the best trip. Arrived at Ranong and headed to the pier to catch a boat to Ko Chang. The tide was too low so we had to go to another pier. The only boat available was a supply boat so we jumped on. It was a 1.5 hr trip to Ko Chang and things weren't adding up. Why were we on a supply boat, why were we the only people heading to Ko Chang Island??? After reviewing the Lonely Planet guide again, we realised there are 2 Ko Chang Islands....one had nothing, the other a popular holiday destination. We were headed to the wrong island....the one with nothing!!! It was too late to jump ship (the water wasn't the right colour) we were stuck. We could see some lonely figures in the distance - lets hope they're not head hunters!!! Fish made Fee get off the boat first and check things out while he hid under a tarp at the front of the boat. The coast was clear - they had beer and food and the bungalow was only $5 a night. Had we found paradise.....not quite. No shops, cars, motorbikes, atm's, bars, other people oh yes there was - The Skipper and Gilligan. We did enjoy our time on Ko Chang it was very relaxing, but after two nights decided to continue our journey north. |
