We had "game drives" in both of these Ports--Both tours were 9 hours long. 2 to 4 hours by bus to get to the game parks where we transfered to safari vehicles for cruising the veldt. 9 to 12 passengers on each. Bumpy, jiggly, rock 'em, sock 'em, all most in the dusty dusty ditch kind of rides. We saw a lot of elephants, zebras, giraffes, some monkeys, some hippos, but no rhinos, lions, or leopards. The day was miserably hot and most of the animals were hiding from the sun, so they wouldn't come out an play for us. Both Lee and I were disappointed that we did not see many birds; there were so many singing, flying, colorful birds in Botswana when we were there that we were hoping to get some nice pictures here in S. Africa. But no go.
We had delicious lunches in both game parks and then another long bus home. Back to the bus in states of exhaustion. We were disappointed--our safari in Botswana 5 years ago spoiled us for anything less than the full safari experience. Oh well, been there, done that.
Next stop, Madigascar.
