Off to Western Australia and we touch down in Perth - a growing, but still very small city!
Staying in Freemantle we have a lovely appartment overlooking the marina, as recommended by my Godmother - thanks Di! So drinks on the balcony watching people and their boats was fantastic and great for us nosey Kendricks!
First day we decided to explore Perth itsef, as we were wanting to go to Rottnest Island, but thought prehaps Mum and Dad's skin could take some more getting used to the sun before sitting on a beach / kayaking all day... So we took the boat from Freemantle to Perth, along the Swan River. This was lovely, and even better because there were only 7 passangers aboard. Upon disembarkment we spotted an openair tourist bus about to depart, so quickly jumped on that. Despite it being a hop-on-hop-off service we were quite content and very confortable with the natural airconditioning that we completed the entire 2-hour loop before ending just where we started! Along the way we saw things like Kings Park, the Mint, the casino where the Jonnie Walker golf competion was underway, government building etc.
