Well - didn't get many photos downloaded .... seems to be a problem ... will keep trying! We handed the campervan back and worked out that we had covered 4,557 kilometres in 25 days ... that's a lot of driving!!!

It was an early start - up at 4am with a short walk to the airport at 4:45am. It was a strange feeling crossing the road and walking 5 minutes down the road to the airport!! There was a party at the backpackers hostel last night but we didn't hang around long due to our early start but there were a few still going when we were up. There were another two girls on the early flight as well and the one lass had probably stayed at the party longer than she should have and was struggling with the early start and the short walk to the airport without any help from her friend! They were flying to Sydney via Alice Springs and she managed to catch up on a bit of sleep at the airport between flights!

We flew to Ayers Rock Resort via Alice Springs eventually reaching our hotel at about 1:30pm and with temperatures of approximately 40oC. Our disappointment of not being able to complete the last 847kms from Kununurra to Darwin in the campervan soon slipped away when we saw our modern, spacious, aircon, ensuite room. We had tried to get into the Backpackers Lodge - The Outback Pioneer, but they were fully booked but we were fortunate to find a room at The Lost Camel Hotel for the same price so we were pretty chuffed. The pool was put to good use!! We spent the rest of the afternoon reading up the brochures and booking our tours in between swims.
