Emma Goes Down Under! travel blog

Newcastle Beach - not really like Tynemouth!!

Just like home!

Yawn, sleep, yawn, sleep!!

More Newcastle!

Caught my first Greyhound bus service, pretty efficient: - have to be there 30 mins before departure, you are given a boarding card, luggage label and seat number!

Arrived in Newcastle 5pm ...first impressions pretty small and v industrial from a distance. Got to my hostel where i quickly realised 90% of the people staying there were 18 year old American students going to Newcastle Uni!! I walked down to the front...the beaches were pretty amazing - full of surfers, and boy racers who felt obligated to whistle and beep their horn from their typical boy racer cars!!! Luckily enough i saw a couple of lads from the bus who were staying in another hostel and went out with them and some others in the evening. The clubs and pubs were a nightmare to get in, one was for ID (bearing in mind you had to be 18 to get in!!!) and another for wearing flip flops (or thongs over here!!) But anyway we managed to get in, the music was pretty backward!! Heavy dance charva music!!! pretty funny!

Day 2:

Got the bus over to the Blackbutt wildlife reserve where i got to see Koalas, Kanagroos (alive this time!) and Wombats (they are massive in real life!) there were also various birds and turtles etc.

In the afternoon walked the length of the harbour and beaches before setting off to Forster.
