Early start of a long day, as we head out by bus then boat to the islands, past a Nasca-style feature on the coast called the Candelabra. It's over 100m high, but no-one knows when or why it was made (it's thought to represent a cactus used by local shamen). Then it's birds, birds and more birds, with a few sealions chucked in for variety. Impressive by the sheer numbers, but not worth more than an hour of my life. We're back in Pisco by lunchtime and on a bus to Lima. Cue suspect Chicken roll on the bus, and another week of bloody stomach cramps and the bottom falling out of my world (not to mention two wasted days on Easter Island lying in bed sweating & shivering). Come back Europe and your food hygiene, all is forgiven!
