Well things are looking much better with the hurricane. If you see on the picture Hurricane Ivan (the top right storm) is kind of shaped like a shrimp, with a red ornage head and then a red orange tail. This tail formed and went just south of our city of Tulum while the head (eye) moved north through the Cancun/Isla Mujeres area. Talk about being in the right place at the right time! Now it is moving away from us, and you can tell the entire city is quite relieved.
Today the four of us went down to the beach to see how it had held up. We had been hanging out at a place called Paradiso. When we arrived there we were sad to see that much of the beach had been dammaged. There were wrecked out boats, blown over palm thatch shade umbrellas, and the bar had been nearly destroyed. Much of the sand was missing revealing the roots of palm trees that grew there. More later
