Arrived at Dublin to be told that our trip to Birr would be 3 hours not the projected 1-2. Not a good day, however on arrival we were met with a lovely house and an apple pie and cups wet out for a cup of tea.
On Saturday people explored the town. Spent our usual first day exploring the town. It looks like a village but the number of pubs, betting shops and lots of little shops suggested much more. Some went to visit the locals Bevan followed later but after 5 pubs gave up. One had seen a group of 'foreigners' but they had moved on!
Chris and I went for a walk and had the first accident. I stepped sideways to avoid a road repair sign, clipped the side of Chris's foot and she ended up taking the brunt of a fall on the eye socket bone. Bled like crazy. However after getting back to the house Lynne went to work with butterfly plasters.
(further down the track it has healed well but there were a few days of the most amazing black eye, and scarring.)
