Outbound to India 2006 travel blog

Hello from India,

The team is currently in Tezpur, Assam. The journey to Tezpur was 6 hours from Shillong. It took three cars to get everyone and the luggage here. During the last four days we have been in Shillong, Megalaya. On January, 31, we drove to Jonai. Some highlights include visits to hospitals, schools, breakfast with the Archbishop, banks, etc. Everyone is tired at this point and wanting to get some rest. The contrast of this culture are amazing. Our current hosts speak Hindi. In Shillong, they spoke Khasi and in Guwahati, the language is Assameis.

I wish you all well.

My best,

Marlene

Nate Here:

Just left Shillong and arrived in Tezpur. Had a good going away party last night. Sang and danced to music. Our host Ban played the guitar and I sang. It is tough to remember the words when you do not have a screen, so we just made them up as we went along. Singin that Don was eating too much food and other nonsense lyrics. Was very sad to leave, but we will be able to communicate with all the new friends by email.
