Finally!! We were able to catch up on some much needed rest on Wednesday. We boarded another Felucca (The Nile Bride) at 9:00am, and had a very relaxing day. The whole group spent the day reading, and napping. And of course eating!! More delicious meals were made for us on the Nile. Hani also tried to teach us some Arabic along the way. Unfortunately my brain is currently done for trying to fit in new languages, so I was not a star student! We arrived at our overnight destination around 5:00 and had dinner around 6:00. After dinner, we had a bonfire and sand Nubian, Arabic and a few english songs. Two fishermen also joined us for the evening. It was very fun! Then it was off to bed in the felucca. It was a little chilly out, but underneath my sleeping bag and blanket and many layers I was toasty warm! It was nice and quiet, and fun sleeping on the Nile. We were awoken in the morning around 7:00 for breakfast, and then had a quick sail to our final destination. Once there, we got out and met our van who took us to two different temples (Corombo and Edfu) and then on to Luxor. The drive took just over 3 hours.
Once in Luxor is time to go go go again. There we went to the Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple. Luxor Temple was really neat as we saw it in the evening when it was dark and so it was all lit up. Very beautiful! We also had an amazing dinner in Luxor. We pulled over to a take away falafel street stand, and they set up a table for us behind them. Then they brought out falafels and all the fixings for the pita bread. It was quite a treat, and very cheap! Our hosts were quite fun as well. Then off to the hotel, where I almost flung myself off the 4th story balcony while exploring the rooftop restaurant. Luckily there was a tall wall to prevent myself from falling over, and Lee was thankfully behind me and rescued my purse that was dangling downwards. A few scrapes and bruise-like areas. Luckily despite the fact that I hit my chin and mouth against concrete I did not get any swelling or buises, and all my teeth remained in tact! Once I had recovered we sat around and had some dessert before going to bed relatively early as the next morning has a 4:30am wake up call......
