Today was another long day, although not nearly as long as it could have been! Originally we were to get up and be out of the hotel by 3:30am to drive with the convoy o Abu Simbel, which is 3 hours drive from Aswan. However, no one in my group wanted to drive, and opted for the faster way of flying. I did not try to rebel on this one, as I did not have my bus partner Lyndsey to make the journey with me! So, we were up at 7:30, and took the 9:10 flight to Abu Simbel instead. The flight only took 35 minutes, which was much nicer. Once we landed, we jumped on a big tour bus with the rest of the plane, and drove to the temples, which again were amazing. It is absolutely unbelievable what they were able to do with so little tools. We had about 2 hours to go through the temples which are dedicated to Re-Harakhte, and that of his wife, Nefertari. It was super busy at this temple-full of tourists! After walking around, we were then taken back to the airport by bus and then we flew back to Aswan. We got back in around 2:00. Then we had lunch, and then had a free afternoon. Despite being exhausted, I walked around the market with some of the others. Quite an interesting experience. A man even offered 3000 camels for me. Apparently I also look Egyptian and have nice eyes. Bought a few things, but really couldn't be bothered to do any serious shopping as I was getting annoyed with all the hassling from the men in the markets. Before dinner, Hani took us back to the markets, and for a nice long walk before another delicious meal. Then it was back to the hotel to prepare for the next day's overnight felucca trip. We were all going to meet up at the hotel's bar for a drink, but I didn't realize that the bar was not the same as the restaurant, so didn't end up finding anyone, so I read for awhile before heading to bed. It's been a crazy busy few days. Looking forward to relaxing on the felucca tomorrow!
