Snow as seen from the train

Then we headed up the mountain

We arrived at the small onsen village

It even "looks cold"

The bus station is on the left taken from our accomodations

We left Sapporo in the morning and altered our route to make sure the snow did not affect getting to our destination of Sounkyo Onsen in Daisetsuzan National Park. We took the train to the nearest point and a bus 22 kilometers (about 13 miles) up the mountain to a small hot springs village. Due to the train scheduling, we arrived about 1 pm. Way to much time in such a small village when snow wanted to keep us indoors.

Another excellent dinner from the northern country.
