Gauchos (cowboys) riding bucking broncos, swaggering in spurs, lassoing cattle for the evening barbeque was what we expected in San Antonio de Areco. What we got was pouring rain, thunder and lightening for 2 full days.
As we wandered the quiet streets, we encountered a few aging gauchos complete with berets and cravats. Unfortunately they weren't riding their trusty stallions, instead opting to travel by bicycle. Not quite what we expected, it was a little disappointing.
Almost a perfect goodbye, on the walk to the bus station, we spotted a one eyed gaucho, complete with knife on his belt. Amy felt honored that he winked at her but Greg pointed out it was probably just a blink!
