The Hot Springs site with space for 3 nights and with the pools was a bonus. These were straight from the volcanic thermals in the area. The site was friendly and being a Kiwi Approved site was of high standard. Close enough to explore Manganui and Te Puke !!!
Jan 5th - Went further North up the coast to explore the Coromandel Park area via Katikati, Waihi and Whangamata towards Hot Water Beach & Cooks Beach.
Katikati is the town with murals !!
Waihi has the most incredible beach, very exclusive and plenty of property for sale and would we love to live here !!! The cafe was friendly and served very good coffee but the food a little pricey.
Hot Water Beach - This beach when the tide is out is thermally charged !! Grab a spade and dig along with hundreds of others to find your very own personal hot pool in which to indulge yourself. Sadly the tide was in, but there were plenty of expectant diggers ready to charge onto the sands as soon as the tide receeded enough to get a spade in !!! As the campsite had its own pools, just sat a while watching the crowds get larger by the minute !!!
Returned to camp and a glass of wine, and a dip in the pool !!!
