Howdy Doody!
Me again with the latest exploit update...
Took a tiny, un-air conditioned Liat plane seating 20 from Antigua to Dominica and arrived in one piece together with my luggage which apparantly is a rarity!
Was met by Kal and we decided to take a dip in the sea as temperatures were so steamy. Beautiful introduction to the island!
Just one long pot-holed road around the island and two crossing it in between, so impossible to get lost here so its seems. It's so lush and green, very rustic, hilly and hot hot hot!
Been staying with Kal who is lovely and gettin on well with him and his son Zak. His brother Dr Ian lives a stones throw away so it's a bit of an open house together with neighbour Diana across the street and her lovely baby boy Bruce.
Went to 3rivers for the weekend built by him and his brothers, check out the site http://www.3riversdominica.com/
Totally awesome and a great recommendation to any of you in need of a green break! Stayed in a great cottage rather like a sauna although not as hot in a basin between the mountains. Hammock on the porch, river to bathe in a few feet away and fruit to pluck of the trees as you wonder around. You would think that its really peaceful but the 3 fast flowing rivers that surround the place together with all the birds, crickets and frogs means that its never quiet day or night!
Rastas carving sugar cane presses, sweet old ladies tending the garden in between the chickens and pets wondering around. How long did i lay in that hammock for thinking of you all at work as I absorbed all of that...!?!
We just stayed a couple of days and Kal has work and Zak starts back at school tomorrow. So now back the at house in DuBlanc. Was so hot this morn when I woke up so I went down to the river across the street to cool off with the fish and losing any London inhibitions of timeliness and cleanliness - no deoderant, toning or moisturising any more - just soap and anti-mozzie stuff - yet I still manage to stay sweet enough for anything that wants to bite me! Then some leisurely yoga on the porch with the cat, a lazy lunch, then time for a nap! Phew it's exhausting all this chilling.
Bit of drama on the way though as hurricane Ivan is due to hit in a couple of days, so we await the river to burst it's banks, houses and tings to be flying around and maybe no school for Zak or work for Kal. Potentially no electricity or water for a few days so everyone is stocking up today in preparation. Guess I did choose to come off season to experience the real Caribbean and looks like that will be happenin very soon.

Ok, gotta run, Zak wants to watch a kung fu movie now!
One love til the next time and i will try to upload some pics shortly seeing as Colin kindly donated me one of his fleet!
