| With only a few days left to spare on our Round-the-World tour we decided to partake in one last adventure. Thanks to a last minute deal on the Internet our destination was Paris. It was a short adventure, 2 nights, but was a great place to wrap up our trip. You'd think after a year of travelling we'd become flawless travellers, never making any mistakes. In reality, we've become lazy travellers. When we arrived in Paris we realized that we didn't know how to get from the airport to our hotel, didn't have a map, forgot to write down the name and address of our hotel, and had no local currency. When leaving Paris we didn't know the terminal we were flying out of and after guessing went to the wrong one. However, we have learned to deal with travelling mistakes and it was all part of the adventure. In our short time in Paris we got a chance to see some of the major sights and opted to save the Louvre, the famous art gallery, for another visit. We walked along Avenue des Champs-Elyssees to the Arc de Triomphe. We had a coffee and crepe in the Latin Quarter, dinner of French cuisine in St. Germain, and snapped photos with other tourists in front of Notre Dame Cathedral. Our favourite part of Paris was our hotel room's balcony from where we had a view of the Eiffel Tower. Our last night in Paris, over dinner, we found ourselves talking about our excitement of going home, rather than discussing our trip. Only two more sleeps till we can see friends and family. We can't wait to step out of the airport and small the fresh ocean air and wake up to see Vancouver's snow-capped mountains. |
