Skipping Stones travel blog

Again .. a short stop-over on our relatively long journey between Sorrento and Nafplio.. but deserves special mention.. not for the ancient ruins outside of town (because we didn`t have enough time to see them) but for another delightful foray into Greek cuisine. We bumped into a friendly German traveller in the train station, and after some consultation regarding our destination, and him mentioning that the water was right next to the station, we decided to walk down for a look. With another hour to waste before the train came, we settled ourself in a Taverna, completely filled with older men playing cards (not a single woman in sight). We ordered ouzo.. which came with a platter of appetizers... a single giant bean in tomato sauce, bread with olive oil, a grass green colored olive, a piece of octopus tentacle and a sliver of cheese. Excellent!!
