Day 38 Saturday 7 September "Cesky Krumlov"
Czech Republic - Prague / Praha
Early start for this 10 hour excursion. I went to breakfast at 7.30ish after a shower then out the hostel by 8.30 went Cashpoint to station and got money out. needed 1300chk. The woman at Martin tours wasnt very friendly. I met 2 retired people / couple that are camper vanning around Europe. The tour began Traffic Jam at 9.30 but we took over 1 hour to leave Prague. The floods have meant that only one exit route is open. All the others are closed cos of damage. I put my walkman on for a while as we zoomed south. Lady in Orange We had a very eccentric guide. A very short woman in an orange skirt. She was very enthusiastic but we kept trying to loose her cos she was saying go this way, go that way now etc. She was SO into the place we really couldnt leave her on her own. Cesky Krumlov This town entirely surrounded by a river was affected by the floods also. Its a Unesco place so I gagged. Its full of Renaissance buildings. These have painted envelope type brick patterns on them. The streets were very narrow, hardly saw any cars. Some people were canoeing around the peninsula, topless bodies. The Group, the people were great a couple from the UK a sweet ginger haired guy from South Africa and his Australian girlfriend. 2 women from the states - Roniq a hairdresser and Suzanna a welder. I stuck with them most of the time. I even asked if they were a couple! They were ok about it. I had a light lunch with them then we had to meet Lady in Orange again for a town walk. Tour. She showed us renaissance buildings and nice views, shes even been to Orpington - her one trip out of the country during communism was to there! Castle at 4 we had to be at the castle for an organised tour. Guided by a good looking guy dressed in old period costume, then it was bus back, rest of the group was 2 old guys from Oakland. There 2 women were from Seattle and there were 4 Estonians. Prague Pub 5 of us went for a drink together. Swapped emails then the couple left us. I stuck with the women who took me to their very bizarrely decorated apartment with 60's pod chairs, then we all went to an Internet café
Pub & meal with Roniq & Suzanna
