We weren't sure where we were going to camp near Salt Lake City but we managed to find this awesome place. Antelope Island is an island about 15 miles long in the Salt Lake. It is reached by crossing a 7 mile causeway. As we were driving along the island Bethany thought she saw a Buffalo but we didn't think they had Buffalo roaming around on islands in Utah. It turns out someone brought some to the island in the 1800's and there is now a free roaming herd of about 700 buffalo. We camped in a great spot near the beach and that night a bunch of Buffalo wandered past our camp and along the beach. Very cool.

It was an amazingly beautiful island with beautiful beaches, rugged mountains and great views of other islands. It reminded me of the Isle of Skye in Scotland. We enjoyed exploring it and watching the buffalo, although we didn't see any of the antelopes that gave it its name. We ended up staying here for a few days because we loved it so much.
