Our trip this year will bring us to the beautiful country of Ecuador. We will start in the capital city of Quito. A spectacular colonial city in the central valley, it's surrounded by many volcanic peaks and is high in the Andes with an elevation of 9,300 feet. Quito has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978, a massive restoration of the colonial old town has just recently been completed.
We will continue our journey to the southern highland city of Cuenca. It is a World Heritage Site as well. Cuenca is a colonial jewel with it's blue domed cathedral, white-washed buildings, and narrow cobblestone streets.
