My time spent as a volunteer with African Impact in St Lucia, South Africa counts as the most rewarding experience of my life. Each morning as we made our way into the communities I shook my head in amazement that I had been given the opportunity to be part of an organization that does so much to touch the lives of people in need.
I am especially grateful for the support of my family and friends and for the interest they have shown in my endeavors.
I would now like to do everything possible to help African Impact continue its work in eastern and southern Africa and so I hope to raise donations for The Happy Africa Foundation, the foundation that funds many of African Impact's projects.
In particular, I am seeking pledges to Happy Africa for each kilometer I cover in my 10,000 km multi-country journey from Cape Town, South Africa to Nairobi, Kenya.
A 1-cent donation per kilometer would equate to a $100 pledge and of course you are welcome to pledge fractions of a cent.
The Happy Africa Foundation is a UK-registered charity and Virgin Money Giving facilitates all donations to the foundation. It is important to note that the Virgin Money site is set up to receive payments in British Pounds.
I know this may appear as an obstacle to US donors but donations can still be made using your credit card or PayPal account. Just keep in mind that a small foreign transaction fee will be charged (typically $2-$3 on $100).
