On The Road in Willie4 |
|
Welcome to my trip journal! Pete, Soleil, and I are starting a new on-the-road trip, as of December 2011 in Willie4, our motorhome. Follow us along wherever we go. Our destinations have not yet been determined. Our plan, as much as we had one, was to leave Vermont early October, have some work done on Willie4 in Indiana, then head west and southwest.
Alas, we were met with challenges, disappointments, and delays, such that we never anticipated and didn't leave Vermont until December. A brief explanation as to why....
About three years ago we bought a mobile/manufactured home to rent to a former foster child of ours and family, after being out of trouble and correctional facilities and into responsible living, by going to college, counseling, AA, and holding down jobs for a good amount of time, showing us he could. All was well for awhile, then former attractions, distractions, the blame-game, and the "easy" life took over. They decided they needed a bigger place and wanted to move, so we put it up for sale, sold it, and they didn't move. After many months of them refusing to move, the eviction process was carried out, again over many months. They finally moved, leaving much damage for the new owners who so patiently waited through all the mess for their home. After years of building and teaching trust, relationships, support, generosity, and so forth, we felt devastated. Aside from all the money we lost. We did learn lessons and hope someday they will realize they could too.
