Welcome to my travel page. This year has been all work and no play, with my last trip a month in Costa Rica for the 2013 holidays, finaly getting to Pavones, and the Osa. NOV 2012 was 10 great days in Istanbul Turkey. But after living in China in 2011-2012, we had trips to Yellowstone, Big Sur/Carmel, Sleeping Bear Dunes, the Carolinas & Florida. I am planning a 8 week trip this winter, on a motorcycle, from Chicago to Panama. Something I have always wanted to do, and I am not getting any younger.

My travels in the last decade encompass Central America's-Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala and SE Asia's Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam Myanmar (Burma). Many trips to Europe's Italy and France, and finally, Africa's sole adventure, Morocco. In addition, my domestic travels include beaches, State Parks, National Parks, Cities large and small, via my moto or car, including fishing, trekking, rafting, canoeing, surfing and cultural and historical museums and venues.

I may go budget, basic, simple, standard, deluxe, or luxury, are all the above in 1 trip. I may use a combination of a flight, a hired taxi, train, water taxi, ferry, boat, moto, or a river raft/kayak. My budget varies as well. I prefer nice hotels in the big cities, having a pool is a bonus to wind down and relax, hits a spa, enjoy a mudbath, hot springs or waterfalls.

Costa Rica has been a favorite since 2001, and I have visited the country over 35 times, exploring a new venues. I have been to 90% of the countries beaches, parks and refuges, with rafting, hiking, trekking, fishing, surfing and scuba diving. Osa Corcovado is the highlight, and the Tortuguero Canals, Sarapiqui, Rincon, Rio Celeste, Cano Negro, and rafting the Rio Paquare.

Nicaragua offers all the above. Its also about half the price, so its well worth your time. Granada and Ometepe are real gems. Corn Islands are on my short list.

Guatemala- Antigua, Attilan, Xela, Monterico, Tikal ruins

Honduras- Scuba Diving Roatan-Utila Bay Islands

SE Asia-

Thailand ( 5 trips) has something for everyone, and is a great introduction to the region, its very safe, and easy, to arrange anything and everything on the go, with no reservations required.

Cambodia I was only at the Angkor Wat Ruins- Seim Reap area for 2 nights and 3 days, and enjoyed the UNESCO World Heritage Site very much, its rich history and culture is very interesting. I hired a guide, and also toured Tonle Sap Lake and the Floating Villages.

Vietnam, ( 14 days) 2003, I was able to explore the great city of Saigon, the Mekong Delta, and the Highlands, as well as the Nha Trang- Doc Leth seaside areas, all via a rented Moto. 2008 just completed 3 weeks in the north, Hanoi, HaLong, Sapa, Hue,Hoi An, Denang, Ninh Binh, Red River Valley via moto and trains.

Laos (14 days) is a real innocent country, and the UNESCO sites in Luang Prabang were a real treat, and 4 nights was really too short. I explored the south Bolevan area via a rented Moto as well, from Pakse to Attepue and Salavan, and also took a boat down to 4000 Islands and Don Khong/Don Det and the waterfalls.

Myanmar (3 weeks), was really a big trip, and every hour was a surprise. This culture is amazing, and I managed to get to Yangon, Mandalay, Hsipaw, Saigaing, Bagan, Kalaw, Inle Lake, Ngapali beach, and rented motos, boats, and taxis...what a blast!

Morocco was everything I heard, as colorful as everything I read about, and the old world culture of the Medinas, staying in ancient Riads, and exploring desert nomads and Berber culture in the mountains was a non stop history lesson.

Turkey was 10 days of nonstop great food, museums, shopping and nightlife.

A final thought- Please consider some time or efforts, to make a personal donation, or buy needed supplies like pens/pencils, backpacks, soccer balls, umbrellas, shoes/flip flops, for a local Orphanage, NGO or Charity or house of faith.
