GVI Volunteer in Peru 2009 |
|
What makes a 50 something Anglo Saxon, none risk taker, none teacher decide to go and work as a teaching volunteer in a desperately poor community in Peru for 5 weeks in January?
I've been given a wonderful opportunity to do something outside my norm. I've worked for Reed Employment for the last 10 years and staff are then rewarded with a 6 week sabbatical. I'm taking mine from 5th January to 16th February 2009. The company has also given me £1000, so I decided to use all this to do something significant. I'm going to Arequipa in Peru to work for 5 weeks as a teaching volunteer in local community schools. The volunteer organisation is Global Vision International. Visit the website at gvi.co.uk.
