Gnat Goes Gallivanting... in Portugal! |
|
Welcome to my trip journal!
I am very excited to heading back on the road after two years at home. This new adventure to Portugal is a bit spur of the moment, but I have faith that everything will work out just fine. I've been fascinated by Portugal since I began reading Jose Saramago's fiction, which lead me to Antunes, and to Pessoa. Lisbon captured my imagination through those books, and I'm finally going to see it for myself. This trip will be a little different from the Ireland/Scotland trek of 2005. Again, I am traveling independently, but this time I'm working without the safety net of a guided tour. So, I'm planning on working my way from Braga in the north to Lagos in the south with 2 days in each of 4 cities before settling in Lisbon for my final 4 days. Wish me luck. We all know I'm not great with time management! In any case, I plan to have a fantastic time, drink a lot of wine, and at least try to converse in Portuguese.
