A trip down the Baja California Peninsula has been on our bucket list for some time now and we have booked a caravan trip for 6 weeks leaving from San Diego on January 22, 2011. The Baja California Peninsula is that skinny long strip of land stretching south from the U.S. border in California to Land’s End at the south cape. The peninsula is bordered on the west by the Pacific Ocean and on the east by the Sea of Cortes, named for the famous explorer. We will be traveling mostly on the Transpeninsular Highway, about 2,000 miles round trip. Much of the peninsula is desert and mountainous with shimmering blue seas, snow white beaches, gray whales, and lots of culture and history. Travel along with us as we explore south of the border.
