I Just Ate What? Another Beer, Please. |

Welcome to my trip journal! It should be good provided you have similar interests: hockey, beer and foreign languages!
The dates I have nailed down for the trip are:
December 27-Jan 1: The Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland;
April 4-12, 2008: The World Women's Hockey Championships in Harbin, China;
May 11-18, 2008: The World Men's Hockey Championships in Halifax; and Quebec City.
As an update, my trip has gone well so far, with my agenda going reasonably as expected. My Middle East tour included only Qatar, Oman and Dubai as I gave Bahrain, and Kuwait a pass. I also cut India short by 4 days to spend more time in southern Thailand just hanging out.
The most notable change was in my return from Harbin. I was planning on Tibet and Nepal, however Tibet is closed to anyone right now. Alternately I made it to southern China, Guilin and Yangshuo, and Laos. These were very agreeable alternatives to Tibet.
There is less than a month left in the trip and everything is now booked along the way back. I'm back in Doha from April 20-May 7, and from there in Istanbul through the 10th. Then eastern Canada for the world championships. Then back home.
I'm looking forward to not living out of a small backpack but still enjoying the trip. I hope everyone is still enjoying the trip journal. It has been a sizeable commitment, mostly in the time required to upload photos.
Cheers, Dave
