Danny and DeDe, the adventure begins....

Welcome to my trip journal! A dream of ours has always been to see the USA. In June of 2010 this became possible. Dan was laid off in June 2010. We had planned on retirement soon anyways. We sold our Lake Elsinore home in July. We recieved 4 full price offers and accepted a 30 day escrow. We moved to our mountain cabin full time on August 15. We had been researching what to buy, motorhome or 5th wheel and attended the RV Show in Pomona in October and bought our first RV. A 2011 Elkridge by Heartland, almost 30 feet. Took delivery on Dec. 13, 2010. We picked it up in Irvine and decided to try it out right away. We drove to Newport Dunes. They gave us a nice bay view site and Dan did pretty good backing into a 20 by 40 space for the first time. We learned alot in the 3 days we were there. We walked over to Balboa Island and enjoyed the Boat Parade. The most challenging event was trying to back into the storage space we rented, it is way too small. We were really frustrated. Finally got it parked with no room to spare. We will be finding a new storage space. The truck we bought to tow our new home on wheels was a new/used 2010 Ford F 250 diesel with 11,0000 miles on it from a private party for a great price. We are so excited to start living the dream.
