From Burma to Tonga 2007 |
|
Welcome to our travel log home page. Brian and I are leaving for South East Asia on August 10th for 40 days. If you're interested, you can keep track of us through this travel log, we will be updating it throughout our journey.
Why Burma? One may ask....well it's cheap, J. Peterman loves it and it sounds cool. So what if there is a travel boycott imposed by the United Nations and they do not use credit card machines because no bank will do business in their country. Sounds like fun! To get to Burma we fly into Bangkok and stay one night then we are off to Burma for eight days touring Yagoon, Kaing Tong, Inle Lake and Mandalay. Then it is back to Bangkok for three days before we venture off into the Golden Triangle of Thailand including Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai. While in Chiang Rai we will take day trips to Laos on the river that in the past, was heavily use for Heroin smuggling. After we get our cultural fix of Buddha we are off to Australia for three days to acclimate our ears to English again before we meet everyone in Fiji. In Fiji we will meet up with the Hagens, Katics and Ancones spend a couple of days on the beach and then we will make our way to The Vava'U Group of Islands in The Kingdom of Tonga to meet up with our yacht charter. Three flights later we will be in the port of Neiafu where we will meet our rarely sober but hilarious South African Captain Tony and the crew. Then the agenda is in Tonys hands. On the way back we plan to stop in Samoa for a few days then I am meeting my mother in law in Honolulu and Brian is off to Nebraska for the USC game. As we make our journey we will be posting blogs so our parents can keep track of us and I friends will know if we are going to make it to Fiji. We will keep you posted!
