Rocky Mountain National Park

Carl travel blog
Welcome to my journal for my trip to Rocky Mountain National Park. This is not my first visit, but it is the first for solo hiking. I am intrigued by the high elevations and am anxious to know how it will affect me. Previous hikes on my other solo trips have not exceeded 7000 feet and my base camp here will be at that elevation. I should summit a fourteener if my conditioning is sufficient. Grizzlies are no threat here (my concern on past hiking trips), but lightning is to be both feared and respected. This will be my first time to do extensive hiking above tree line and I will have to keep an eye to the sky. Debbie plans to join me for a week of short hikes and auto touring.
