Winter Escape to Yucatan

Welcome to my trip journal! Linda, Corky and I are busy packing for our trip to Mexico with Adventure Caravans. We are also keeping an eye on the weather forecast, as temperatures in central Indiana are expected to drop to single digits, with wind chills below the teens. I am not looking forward to the many trip required to move our stuff from the house to the coach. Process starts tomorrow morning, and we will hit the road sometime on Thursday, I would guess.

Our route from Indiana will head straight south, with planned overnights in Franklin, KY and Meridian, MS on the way to our first travel stop in New Orleans. The intent is to get away from the cold as quickly as possible. But, we don't have to be in Texas to rendezvous for the caravan until late next week, so some sightseeing will be the order of the day once temperatures improve.

From there, we will head west along the gulf, and visit South Padre Island, an area we have never visited before. I am sure we will also find that there are supplies we have not remembered to load, necessitating stops along the way.

I hope to contribute to this Journal for the next 10 weeks, as we explore historical Mexico, and enjoy the warmer weather out of the mid-west US.
