BuzzPuppy's Himalayan Misadventures April 2008 |
|
-Strong
-Physically Fit
-Organised
-Well-Prepared
All these qualities are what mountaineers are made out of to tackle a behemoth like Sagamartha. The Nepalese hold their "Goddess of the Sky" with great respect, forming part of the Himalaya amongst its other sky-reaching brethren.
So what the blazes is an I.T. techno-geek like me doing there in the first place?
I think I'm quite a bit short on the aforementioned qualities.
Well, I'm happy to tag along with my mate David on his 40th Birthday (and his journal can be found here!) and I'd be glad to make it to Everest Base Camp and leave the Khumbu Icefall to the professionals.
We all have our questions and concerns. My main one is have I truly prepared myself so my thoughts are not just plodding one foot in front of the other, taking what little air my deep breaths will get and hopefully enjoy some of the most gorgeous scenery, culture and people Nepal has to offer?
If you're ever curious to see how your average bloke with a penchant for misadventure fares on this trip, there's only one way to find out!
