The Goal-To take four inexperienced bicycle riders and turn them into professional bike geeks. They will be dropped in Japan and attempt to ride across the country...the long way, at least 1800 miles. They will have to endure harsh weather, difficult road conditions, long tunnels, bike repairs, a lot of sake and each other for a period of more than 2 months. They will have to carry all clothes, bike tools and camping equipment. The trip will begin on the southern island of Kyushu, Japan on March 12, 2008, ride to Sata, the southern most point, and then head north until they reach their final destination, Cape Soya, Hokkaido, the northern most island of Japan, two months later. Can they make it?
