Who Are We?

MyTripJournal was started by Faye and Dan Parlow following a 4-month family backpacking trip to China and Thailand in 2001. Over their life together, the Parlows have spent over three full years in some 30 countries on the road, from RVing in North America and Australia, to rickety bus trips in Indonesia and Morocco, trekking in Peru and New Zealand and boating up the Yangtze River. Together with joint venture partners Dave Vincent and Paul Melhus, the Parlows developed MyTripJournal as a means for independent travelers to share their experiences and preserve their precious memories for posterity. In 2006, MyTripJournal was named by Forbes as among the "Best Travel Sites on the Web", one of only 13 sites to be bestowed with that honour.

Trip Journal Content

MyTripJournal provides a forum for tens of thousands of travelers to capture their memories and to share them with friends & family. Sorted by destination, current and future travelers alike review and rate the content of their peers, and MyTripJournal staff cull the best writers' and photographers' materials through the Best of MyTripJournal system. The 'best of' system now includes about 1,000 of the highest quality Trip Journals containing some 60,000 stories and almost one million travel photos and videos. The quality of MyTripJournal's content likely accounts for its ?stickiness? in receiving approximately 10 page views per visit.

Custom Branding for Key Partners

In addition to its own brand, MyTripJournal provides a white-label service for over 20 white label partners shown below, including Lonely Planet, Contiki Vacations and the Good Sam Club. We work closely with our partners to provide a trip journaling product and content that meets the needs of their customers and other site visitors. Advertisers wishing to target a specific demographic (eg international vs RV travelers) may restrict their reach to pages bearing specific partner branding, consistently with applicable ad criteria. Friends and family having like interests are also heavy users of our site. MyTripJournal users are educated and socially aware. They are concerned about the world and seek to minimize their travel footprint.
