Sam and Sharons Western Trip 2018

Sharon travel blog
Welcome to my trip journal! I'm truly humbled by many of you requesting another journal of our new trip to the west coast. I hope to keep you entertained but not bored but in case you do get bored, well, you know what to do.
First, let me say thank you to my sweet sister in law, Libby, for sending us off with a goodie bag of pizzelles, my favorite snack food. What she said was that it was a treat for playing nice with Sam. I told her "Libby, it will take more than 4 little bags of pizzelles to play nice for 2 months in extremely close quarters". Just kidding. I'm just hoping not to kill him.
So we left this morning at 8am with our little motorhome full with everything minus the kitchen sink and we can buy even that somewhere during the trip if we can find a place to put it. But lets get real...there is a walmart in every little town and just today upon arrival in Fort Payne, Al, we have already made a visit, or at least Sam did while I drove my little truck to Collinsville, Al, about 15 miles further south to visit my sister in the nursing home.
Our trip takes us through Mentone, Al, population roughly 500, located atop Lookout Mountain in Dekalb County, Al. It is a summer resort for many private and public camps and DeSoto State park nearby. I have spent my entire life traveling through Mentone to get to the valley below called Valley Head where my great and great great grand parents settled and where my mother lived until her death in 2010. I could go on and on about that subject but lets get back to the trip.
Now what is a trip without SOMETHING breaking? That's right. Fan for air conditioner in cab of motorhome is gone, so the first thing to do on our list in Memphis is to find a repair shop. Can't imagine driving in the hot dessert with no air conditioner! Are we spoiled or what?
I can't promise to send a daily update but i promise to do my best.
Until then.....
