Uganda Second Time 'Round |
|
Hello Everyone!!! As some of you may know I am involved with an non-government organization called NITEO based in Kelowna and working with the beautiful people of Uganda. In fact Niteo's mission statement is "Partnering with Ugandans to establish hope and nourish minds"
Back in May 2008 I shaved my head to raise money to establish a computer network in the Eva Ruf Resource center in Kampala that we set-up during our first Niteo trip in July 2008. For more info on Niteo please check out our web-page: www.niteoafrica.org
I was unable to travel back last year but I have heard from others that the resource center is a HUGE SUCCESS (over 1000 users per month). The children and adults that use the center are all within walking distance as no one really has a vehicle and there isn't much for public transport... I have heard that walking distance may mean 2hrs one direction though.
I am EXCITED to see the center being used as it was intended! I'm excited to see what programs have been implimented by the Ugandans coming to the center which indicates their ownership of it's continuing success. There are a lot more things I'm looking forward to but really I don't want to overwhelm the very first page of this journal hehehe... so please feel free to follow along, I'm really going to try to complete this journal!
