Dave and Mary Around Rich World
Hi and welcome to our trip, which begins rather well into it. Buy our latest book entitled "RV the World" on Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/RV-World-David-Rich/dp/1449569137/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1259184239&sr=1-6 We began full-time world travel in April 1993 and are now finishing our seventeenth year (having sold everything, classically homeless), living in 140 some countries so far. These stories and pictures cover eight countries in Asia: China for three months, then Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia. There's also a story on Hawaii, where we stopped on our way back from the last leg. Then we began in South America in September 2002 and finished driving all countries in South America, ending with Venezuela and Colombia in March 2004. Then to Nepal, India and China before helping sail a 39 ft. steel cutter up from Malaysia to Thailand. On Nov. 25, 2004 we began a 4x4 overland trip from Johannesberg, South Africa to Yemen via a bunch of interesting countries. Next was Japan, then Korea, Bangkok, Borneo, sailing the Philippines and driving for month through Java. We popped back to South Africa for Namibia, Botswana and Vic Falls. Then we dipped into Mozambique, Swaziland and Lesotho before taking the Garden Route back to Capetown. Next stops were Rome, Tunisia, Malta, Sardinia and Corsica, before Albania and into Turkey, Lebanon and perhaps Syria along with Kurdastan before checking out Iceland and Greenland in August, 2006. We'll figure where to hang out next. Maybe sail into Eritrea so I don't get deported again! But the most recent trip has been back to the Philippines, checking out Sumatra, then overlanding from Cairo through Khartoum to Addis. In 2007 we finished a three month trip through West Africa from Cameroon, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Mali, Senegal, Mauritania, up through Western Sahara to Morocco. After stopping by my favorite archeological site, Petra. After that came Cuba (don't tell W) before crewing a 46' sailboat for a few months from Venezuela to the Panama Canal, then up through Central America to finish up 2008. 2008 featured a return to Peru and Bolivia, then an extended trip through Thailand, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan (hunting the killer of Hindus), Uzbekistan for some of the world's most spectacular World Heritage Sites, weirdo Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia (not a US State), Armenia and Ukraine to finish up the year. 2009 found us tooling through Death Valley, the slot canyons of Arizona and Utah, Idaho, British Columbia, Alberta, Alaska and the Yukon, then to New Zealand and Tonga. We look forward to hearing from you.
