Retirement Road Trip - See the USA
Taking an extended road trip across the United States had been a dream of mine for many years. My mother's tales of her road trip in 1946 whetted my appetite for such an adventure. Although I had traveled extensively throughout this country, I had never had the luxury of spending two months on the road - until I retired in the Fall of 2005. My focus was those states west of the Mississippi River, with a concentration on places I had never visited. I spent most of my time in small towns and the wide-open countryside, and saved visits to the large cities to a later time.
