New Haven Sister Cities 2011 Trip to Vietnam & Cambodia |
|
Welcome to my trip journal! This is the first trip ever organized by the New Haven - Hue Sister City Committee. New Haven, Connecticut has had a "sister city" relationship with Hue, Vietnam since 1995, this being the first American connection of its type after relations between our two countries were normalized by President Clinton
I'm Barbara Lamb, President of NHSC (www.nhsistercities.org) and Chair of the NH-Hue Committee. I made my first visit to Vietnam last June, timed to visit Hue during their biennial International Festival. I fell in love with the country, its people, its culture and history. The Mayor of Hue, who subsequently responded to my visit by visiting New Haven last November, encouraged me to come back again & bring others with me. So I put out a call to friends & colleagues, and to the wider public through NHSC's website. There are now a total of 15 of us and we'll set off on our 16 day journey on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from JFK Airport in NYC, bound for Hanoi, via Seoul, Korea. I hope you'll enjoy reading about our experiences, viewing our photos and learning more about this fascinating country. Please take the time to visit our "guestbook" and send us a message to let us know you visited!
