Argentina and Chile - Winter 2011 |
|
Hello everyone! I'm flying out to Buenos Aires on New Year's Eve, at 23:55 to be exact. This trip is unusual because I don't have an itinerary at all. All I know is that I will be taking a guidebook writing course with a company called Viva from January 3 to 7, in Buenos Aires. The hope is that I will stay on to write for them afterwards, an assignment of at least a month. This will involve roaming around Argentina, but exactly where is unknown at this time. If I had my pick, I would choose to go to the area around Cordoba, as well as the northwest around Salta, since these are two areas that I skipped last time I was in Argentina in 2005.
In case you're curious, here is the apartment that I rented in Buenos Aires for the week of the course.
My tentative return date is March 7, from Santiago, Chile. I say tentative because I booked a reward ticket with Air Canada, so the dates (and even the routing) are changeable for a small fee "if" there is availability. There is always a possibility that I may extend the trip, since I don't have an official work contract waiting for me upon my return. This will be my first time in Chile. At a minimum, I'm hoping to visit part of middle Chile, including Santiago, Valparaiso, Villa del Mar, and some excursions to wineries.
You'll just have to follow this journal to discover where I'm going next, as I find out myself!
Once again I am putting my sympatico account on hold starting January 1. You can e-mail me at marie@bigtravelnut.com. That's right, I got myself a domain name! Go check out my new web site.
Happy Holidays everyone!
P.S. If for any reason you do not want to receive the updates, let me know and I'll remove you from the mailing list.
