Banff National Park was the first National Park in Canada and third in the world. It was created in 1885 after a natural hot springs was discovered. Banff National Park soon became a tourism icon around the world. Banff - named for Banffshire, Scotland - and Lake Louise are located within the park which forms part of the UNESCO Rocky Mountain Parks World Heritage Site.
We enjoyed our visit much, but wished we had a lot more time in the area. It is absolutely beautiful. We are hoping to return later to ride the Gondola to Sulphur Mountain.
