Our church has an outdoor camping program for all young women ages 12-18. This year camp was held not far from us at the Scott Lake State Park, just north of Scott City, Kansas. It is a beautiful little state park hidden out on the prairie. It is like an oasis in the middle of the vast plains. It has an RV section with hookups too. Our girls were camped in the Shady Grove, a picturesque green meadow surrounded by ancient old Elm trees. There were about 45 girls, 20 leaders and some men to keep them safe. They sleep in tents and learn all about camping along with the spiritual side of living outside with nature. They have a camp cook, but the leaders had heard about our Redneck Valentine Dinner in February and decided they wanted the girls to experience our kind of "camp" cooking.

One of the men borrowed a huge grill on wheels, another man brought dutch oven beans, another couple made dutch oven cobbler and desserts, and Wes and I cooked french fries. It was a fun afternoon and evening, and it was good to be cooking outdoors again. All the food was delicious and we enjoyed a relaxed evening while we waited for all the cooking oil to cool down enough to transport it back home.

Another great day!
