Time has flown since leaving Arizona. We certainly enjoyed our stay there, especially Casa Grande and Sedona. It was nice to see some new 'places'. We arrived in Nevada late Saturday afternoon. The drive from Flagstaff to Vegas went very quickly, we always enjoy listening to the next portion of our current audio book. Sure helps pass the time on longer trips. Most of you know that Larry and I typically drive for no more than 4 hours in any one day. No particular reason, other than the fact they we don't seem to ever break camp before 11am, and by 3pm we are looking for a good place to spend a day or two. Not that we couldn't drive farther, we do, but we prefer not to. It was warm all of the way, over 90 degrees, but there were nice clouds! Enjoyed seeing those again...

It is amazing to see the changes near the Hoover Dam as they progress on the new bridge. Construction on the nearly 2,000 foot long bridge began in late January 2005 and the completion of the entire Hoover Dam Bypass Project is expected in June 2010. When completed, this signature bridge will span the Black Canyon (about 1,600 feet south of the Hoover Dam), connecting the Arizona and Nevada Approach highways nearly 900-feet above the Colorado River. I have included a few pics for you guys, in case you are interested in the structural 'stuff'. Lake Mead’s elevation continues to drop, to a new lower level which is 14-feet below last year’s lowest point. This is all happening because the snow pack in the Rockies was poor again this year. Distressing for those of us that have loved living near and enjoying this beautiful body of water for so many years. Even so, the view of Hoover Dam remains an awesome sight, no matter how many times we drive over it!

We plan to be in Vegas for three days or so. Just enough time to catch up with family and run a few errands. Then we're off to Ely, planning to arrive in time for Dad's birthday later this week. And to see my god-daughter Dannielle who is there visiting for a few days. She has a 3 year old son I haven't yet met, looking forward to that. They have been living in the Denver area and recently moved back to Southern California so maybe we'll see them a bit more. Hope so...

That's it for now, thanks for checking in......
