Last Saturday Marcie treated Lou & I to a 'girl's lunch out'. We decided to head into Hill City to the Alpine Inn, a locals favorite. It didn't hurt that there was a quilt show going on over the weekend as well :) The Alpine specializes in German fare but they had a daily lunch special too. Lou & I both chose the special for the day, cabbage rolls served with German potato salad. Great choice! Best I've ever had. Afterward we ordered a large bread pudding with caramel sauce, three spoons please! Oh my, I waddled out of there, grateful that we were going to do a bit of 'window shopping'.

As we meandered slowly down the boardwalk we enjoyed checking out the colorful quilts hanging in front of nearly business. Many had quilts on display inside as well. The workmanship is amazing. I have several girlfriends that have taken this particular craft up & they do beautiful work as well. I found a Christmas one (pic later) that is actually a kit. All of the material, stones etc were included in the bag & it was on sale too. 1/2 price which was still about $220! Oh my, I had no idea of the cost involved in making one of these beauties. I will treasure the one's I already own all the more now :)

It's been a hectic month & I am so far behind in posting. We've visited lovely areas & interesting places so hopefully you'll enjoy catching up with me as I get them online soon. We're moving on this morning, headed to Pierre for the next 5 nights. Dakota Cowboy Heritage Festival starts tonight & runs through the weekend. And of course Pierre is the state capital so we plan to visit the State Capital building on Monday. Hopefully the roads will be open & the weather will be good as we travel later this morning. So, we'll see you on down the road!
