Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

With the work completed on our RV we had only to spend the night last night and leave this morning.

We sat with three other couples, in the shade, with finger food and a cold drink.

The conversation and laughter was non-stop from about 4:30 til about 8:30, when we finally broke up and went our separate ways.

We slept well and awoke early for a hot cup of coffee before getting dressed and making things ready to roll.

It was very windy this morning and the sky was filled with dark clouds.

We said goodbye to our new friends, with hugs and wishes for safe travel.

I must add here that Paul Cross RV is the finest place to have repairs done on your RV, that we have ever visited. Paul and his crew are experts on the Mobile Suites but I’m sure their knowledge extends to all other makes as well. His wife, Kay, stays on top of all the details and keeps Paul in line. LOL

Wonderful folks who care about the people they serve, perform excellent work, and always seem to do a bit more than expected.

We have never felt that we were overcharged for anything. In fact the final bill has always been less than expected.

If you need work done on your RV I highly suggest that you give Paul Cross RV in LaGrange, Indiana, a try.

Oh, you would find them under Indiana Interstate Enterprises.

We drove out of the repair facility around 8:30 and picked up our new furniture about 30 minutes later.

It was 9:45 AM when we finally pulled away, heading west and then south, with a strong quartering headwind of 20 to 35 mph.

The strong headwind resulted in terrible fuel mileage of 8.5. That may be the worst mileage we have seen in the four years of RV life.

We gained an hour when we crossed from the eastern to the central time zone.

It was about 2:30 central time when we arrived at D & W Lake RV Park in Champaign, Illinois. Dennis, the owner greeted us, led us to our site, and visited with us as we set up.

This is a very nice RV Park, with roomy, full hook up sites bordered by a nice grassy area, and a nice lake right outside your door.

The four major TV networks are available with your roof antenna, and free Wi-Fi is also available.

This RV Park is far enough away from Interstate 57 that the noise is barely perceptible.

All in all, this is an excellent place to stay and overnight isn’t long enough to enjoy the peace and relaxation offered.

Give this place a chance if you pass this way.

I won’t spend much time writing about the negative today. Let me just put it this way. We will never give any of our business to the PILOT FUEL places, as long as we have any other options.

We are relaxing this evening. We have some wine chilled and Marilyn is fixing fish and veggies for our dinner.

The new chairs are comfortable and we’ll be back in Hannibal with family and friends tomorrow.

Life is Good!
